How To Make A Football Charcuterie Board
This Football Charcuterie Board is an easy game-day appetizer idea, filled with meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, vegetables, crunchy snacks, sweets, and dips.
The centerpiece is made by arranging folded salami and soppressata into a football shape, then using strips of white cheese to create the football laces.
It’s a great option for football parties, tailgates, Super Bowl gatherings, watch parties, and game-day entertaining because most ingredients require little to no cooking.
You can also customize the board around your favorite snacks, dietary needs, team colors, or even swap the meat for something else (like making a beef charcuterie board).
For the best presentation, prep your fruits and vegetables ahead of time, then assemble the board the day you plan to serve it.
Arrange ingredients in small clusters, spread different colors and textures throughout the board, and use ramekins for dips or extra snacks when you need more space.

Directions for putting this football-shaped charcuterie board together:
Tip: Ideally, prep all your veggies and items ahead of time. This way, when you’re ready to create the board, everything is ready.
- Create the football-shaped meat and place it in the center of the board. We are using a marble round board. You can use whatever type of board you have on hand.
- Start by placing two small ramekins in the center of the board, leaving space for the meat. This helps keep the meat organized and in place.
- Take a piece of Salami or Sopressata and fold it in half, then fold it again. Have a stack of these ready to go.
- Place a stack of meat against one side of the ramekin, then keep stacking the folded meat until you reach the other side of the ramekin. Stack them so they form half an oval. Once you complete one side, repeat and do the other side. When you finish this step, you should have an oval of meat.
- Then, fill the middle with folded Salami or Sopressata until it is full (as shown in the image).
- Next, you will take slices of Pepperjack String Cheese (or another sliced white cheese) and create lines similar to what’s on a football.
Once you complete the football part of the board, arrange items with attention to color, texture, and balance. Group similar items together, and consider creating visually appealing clusters.
Create a visually appealing layout by adding pops of color throughout the board (instead of in one area). Mix your savory and crunchy items throughout the board, so you have different textures and tastes.
Tip: If you don’t have enough room on your board, use small ramekins to hold your additional food items.

Can I customize the ingredients?
Feel free to replace ingredients with your preferences and accommodate any dietary preferences or restrictions.

Can I make this in advance?
Ideally, assemble this board the same day you plan to serve it.
However, you can prepare all the veggies and fruit beforehand and store them in the fridge until you’re ready to assemble the football board.

Where can I find unique charcuterie items?
Specialty items like Sonoma Bite-Size Cheddar Cheese Crisps, Rosemary and Cheddar Cheese Crips, Nejaime’s Lavasch Crisp Flatbread Sesame, and Fig Spread can be found at World Market.
Depending on where you live, you may find specialty items at your grocery store.
Many grocery stores like Kroger, Meijer, and the Clubs (Costco, BJ’s, Sam’s Club) have stepped up their game to include more items for charcuterie boards.
And don’t forget about Trader Joe’s. We are finally getting a TJ in our town, so we plan to feature more board ideas using Trader Joe’s items! YAY!
Can I adjust the amounts depending on the number of guests
Adjust quantities based on the number of guests.
Increase or decrease the amounts proportionally to accommodate the crowd.

What’s the Best Way to Organize the Meats on the Board?
Place two small ramekins in the center, leaving space for the meat.
Fold Salami or Sopressata in half, then fold again to create stacks.
Place stacks along the sides of the ramekins, forming half an oval.
Fill the middle with folded meat until full.

How Can I Make the Football Lines with String Cheese?
Take slices of Pepperjack String Cheese (or another white cheese) and create lines on the oval-shaped meat, resembling football lacing.

What Other Dips Can I Include on this Football-Themed Charcuterie Board?
While the Fig Spread is suggested, you can include other dips or spreads based on personal preference, such as honey mustard or flavored mayo.

If you have leftovers, store them in containers or small baggies for movie snacks, girl dinner, or an afternoon lunch.
